You hocked a Hattori Hanzo sword?

I know Kill Bill is known by critics and fans alike for being outlandish, and people say it’s simply style over substance with no meat on it’s bones… Which to be fair is MOSTLY true.

BUT I think there is more subtly and nuance to Kill Bill than it gets credit for. Sure it’s has a relatively basic plot and is a bit of a gore-fest, especially Vol.1 but there is more going on here then immediately meets the eye and Tarantino still keeps his amazing signature dialogue in his revenge flick. (more on that topic later)

Anyway though here are the reasons I like Budd as a character (actually he is probably my favorite viper) and why I like this scene in particular: the subtle facial expressions and chuckling, the cold laughter and smug smiles of Budd, and the one character to truly accept that he was a person who have done irredeemable things to Kiddo.

Theory: I believe Budd possibly resents Bill for making him participate in the massacre at the church. I say this Because the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad were assassins NOT just street hit-men so presumably it was the first time they straight up massacred people instead of killing corrupt world leaders and whatnot, also Budd seems to be the only Viper that seems to be truly remorseful about the massacre even literally saying that they deserved to die for what they had done.
